The Story of Jardin
The name Jardin tells a story of growth and the quiet, steady work of tending to one’s own garden throughout life’s journey. It’s rooted in the belief that a space should be more than just a physical location—it should be a soulful sanctuary cultivated with intention and care. At Jardin, design is seen as an evolving process of nurturing a space so that it can, in turn, nurture the people within it.
Carmen Zermeno
Carmen brings a relaxed, grounded approach to the design process, ensuring that the path to a finished project is as comfortable as the space itself. She has a lifelong love for texture—both visual and tactile—and uses those layers to add a signature warmth and depth to every environment.
Originally from Houston, Carmen moved to Portland in 2020 and pursued her certification in interior design and formalized her deep appreciation for interiors. Having grown up surrounded by craftspeople, she developed an innate eye for the small, artisanal details that make a room feel personal and layered. She is particularly drawn to textiles, viewing them as the essential elements that bring soul and softness to the spaces we inhabit.
When she’s not designing, you’ll likely find her out on a long walk with her husband and their basset hound, Louie, or dreaming up her next trip to the coast—or wherever curiosity leads her next.
