The Story of Jardin
The name Jardin speaks to the quiet, steady work of cultivating a meaningful life. It is rooted in the belief that a home should be more than just a physical structure—it should be a soulful sanctuary designed with intention and care. At this boutique residential interior design studio, the creative process is about nurturing a space so that it can, in turn, completely nurture the people who live within it.
Carmen Zermeno
Carmen’s approach to residential interior design is shaped by her background in non-profit organizations—a history that fundamentally redefined how she views what a home can look like, and more importantly, how it should feel. Originally from Houston and based in Portland since 2020, she spent years working across multiple design studios, developing a signature eye for immersive textures, custom layering, and the quiet things that give a room its soul.
Her non-profit roots instilled a deep belief that spaces should be deeply human, livable, and entirely unprecious. To Carmen, true luxury lies in a sense of quiet ease—designing rooms that aren't meant to be handled with white gloves, but are beautifully built for the messy, meaningful business of everyday living.
When she’s away from her desk, you’ll likely find her out on a long walk with her husband and their basset hound, Louie, or chasing inspiration on a trip to the coast.
